Hi all,

After 10 years of happy cycling my bike got stolen from outside a friends house last night... just a few days after spending £100 on new parts.

It was a rigid Orange Gringo with semi-slick tyres on, great for around town and super smooth.

I need a replacement fast as I'm currently without a car.

What would you recommend for about 100 miles a week of mainly town riding with the odd 80ish mile bike ride?

I had my eye on this but being 6ft 2" they don't have my size- http://www.paulscycles.co.uk/m9b0s156p5322/GT-TACHYON-1-0-2014

Something around £500 would be good then I won't be overly fussed when it goes missing!

Please help, I really need to order something tonight and I don't know where to start.

Thanks,

Eddie

You are doing a decent amount of mileage. Why not get a road bike? They are a lot better for cycling on tarmac and you will go quicker.

On the same website :-

Giant Defy's are more of a relaxed fit than most road bikes so you should be comfy!

Under budget but my mate has just bought this and it's massive and good quality. Not very packed full of features but a decent set of pedals and maybe a set of mavic crossride rims and that'll be your 500 spend and a super quick good quality bike that doesn't draw attention.

I duct taped all my bike up when I used to leave it in London and tie a tesco bag over the seat. No one ever touched it :D
