Ive been getting my bike back up to scratch for the first time in 10 years. I need a new set of road types. The current mountain tyre on the back is 26 x 2.10, the ident on the wheel is 24" 14mm x 1540mm v.h.9mm.

What size road tyre will fit that wheel? Ive been looking at Halfords to get some idea. Im not sure why the tyre is spec at 26" but the wheel says 24". Can anyone tell me what the numbers refer to?

I use Schwalbe land cruisers on mine. They'll fit the sizes specified and tbh are very good. Nice slick strip along the middle but ribbed (oh matron!) on the side to give excellent grip when cornering. I even once left them on by mistake when I was doing some heavy downhill and lived to tell the tale!

Bargain on wiggle atm.

Thanks for that. I ordered some of the land cruisers and inner tubes from Wiggle.

Got my tyres and inner tubes, all fit nicely. Could have done with a cooler day to get started but cant have everything! Wiggle give out free sweets with their deliveries too! Bonus!
