It's so annoying how you have to have 17 layers of theft protection. Can't have anything these days without some ****** trying to nick it. We're too soft.
 
I see reports all the time, bally lads caught red handed by police usually with drugs and knives and they get released on bail and nothing comes of it and they're back on the rob. There is no deterrent. We need to take matters into our own hands or riot in the streets until the government does something about it. If you're caught carrying a weapon with a bally on you should go to prison.

Best part is going abroad and seeing bikes everywhere with not even as much as a steering lock on. Bike theft seems to be a lot more prolific in the UK than anywhere else. I think we need a vigilante group removing digits for a while, it's very clear that we're nowhere near having a competent government any time soon.

If it opens like the usual up and over like mine, I have two Abus Titalium locks on either side of the door (about £20 each) and a Litelok X1. I also have a JDC heavy duty cover. Its about guarding something precious to you while it may not be worthwhile for any thief. I could have added another disc lock but I guess the above is enough. Also have my car parked in front of the door. No tracker yet though.

You have to make it not worth it. Every minute the thieves spend in stealing raises the risk of getting caught very quickly.

Well done. How did you take to the bike and controls? Some folks take to it like a duck to water, others spend a couple of grand on a 125 which they then wobble around on in an industrial estate and still ask where to put their feet.

To be honest... I can see it being easier on a bigger bike :cry:

It wasn't too bad really. No stalls, no drops, minimal wobble at the start so it's a promising sign, trainer was very happy with me. But after 17 years of driving it does make me think there should be a lot more training before people can just do a CBT... But I'm glad I did today's bit ahead of the CBT too, it's nice to get used to the bike a bit rather than going in blind!

A big bike is so much easier, it was such an eye opener when I swapped the 125 for a 500 on my DAS course. To the point that it felt like 125s could easily put someone off of riding at the first hurdle!

Yeah I've heard this said a lot, and can easily see it.

CBT passed today. Bit rocky first thing in the yard doing some practice junctions, and felt quite nervous and unprepared to go out on the road... But smashed it and loved it once I was out there. The younger lad out with me, despite already having done his CBT and had a bike, was a very nervous fellow and the instructor ended up paying quite a lot attention to him and was happy for to just plod along to my heart's content which was reassuring.

Onwards and upwards now! Got a 2 hour intro session with a CB750 Hornet on the 14th (as that's what they train with), some training on the 18th in prep for the MOD1 and then the test on the 23rd. Genuinely can't wait to get on the bigger bikes to be honest, if for nothing else the easier low speed things. I think if/when I pass the MOD1 is when I'll place the order for the bike and get the MOD2 booked in, hopefully early-mod August and I'll be all set!
