Having been chatting to Lukechad about a bikers meet. We've come together with a few ideas.

We've set the date to be Sunday 28th of May (obviously if the weather ends up being rubbish we'll have to maybe do a bit of altering).

We wanted to keep it fairly central, but at the same time places where there are some roads to ride, but places to sit down and have a chat.

So far we have had suggestions of maybe around Bassets Pole, around Loughborough, and a bit further south around Northampton. These are just ideas, and once an area is chosen we'll dig a little deeper and explore the options open to us.

The objective of the meet? Meet up some people from here, make some new friends, and generally have a nice safe fun ride a nice pub lunch, some appreciation of each other's machines and then a bit more of a blast.

I have set up a poll with the 3 areas we have in mind - plus an "other" area, bear in mind we want to keep this fairly central. If you do vote "other", please mention you suggestion in your post.

Last time this idea was run around there was a lot of interest - let's see if the interest is still around. :)

Will you be able to make it?

I only know Loughborough having gone to uni there, there are lots of country roads and quite a lot of good pubs in the country side. It's near Melton Mowbray which is quite fun.

Bassets Pole is a popular biker meeting place - though usually on Tuesdays apparently.

And northampton was an option open to the more southern people. Feel free to suggest something fairly central though. :)
 
I keep having to reset the "other" entry to 0. If you're not going to specify an other place, don't bother voting as it really doesn't help :p
 
It's more about meeting up and getting to know one another - there will be no doubt as there is in every motor meet a bit of showboating no doubt. But I would hope that people behave fairly sensibly, have a decent blast in the countryside, a nice pub lunch, a fun chat, and a bit more of a blast. I always stick implicitly to the speed limits.... most of the time.

The more the merrier :) And Desmo is a biker after all ;)

We'll get to drool over each other's machines and be all manly and smell of oil and petrol... erm... :o

It's seems as though the date is sounding good?

I have just travelled (yesterday actually) from Wales were I picked up my Benelli Tornado and I am aching like you would never believe. It's definately not a bike for long distances I can tell you :eek:

1 vote added, though it looks as though northampton is winning. As for seeing Nessie... well she's not answering my calls, so she can wait a bit longer :p

For those that voted Northampton can you suggest or reccomend routes, pubs, areas that we can have a blast around?

In reality we could probably blast up to quite decent distances anyway! Certainly if it's a nice day. Though to be honest, despite riding in the rain and sun, I would prefer a meet in decent weather.

The poll will now close in a few days, as we need to make it come to a suitable conclusion. There's been a fair number of votes, I just hope the people that have voted will end up coming. :)

When closer to the date I might revive the thread and put a list of definites and "maybes" unless people are happy to commit themselves now of course - I know I would be able to.

Shame you won't be able to join us Martin, you could have course come on 4 wheels like Desmo might?
 
Having ridden to the south of france it really isn't that bad - however I was away for a week. A 400+ mile round trip over a weekend is a bit of bore especially in one day! :p What the heck it'll be a laugh! :D
 
Well northampton has won the votes - I guess we have to go with that as mrgrubby does make a good point. However it doesn't HAVE to be the 28th of may, we can delay it by a week for example if that is a cool place to meet?

Hmm so much for setting a date and sticking with it :p
 
So am I. But if it's during an even it'll cause issues. Of course the date can be moved, but that has to be decided ASAP so as to let people organise their lives. :)

I agree that meeting in that part of the world furing the WSBK is probably not a good idea, but Northampton area which is the area that has won should be out of the way enough no? If not then a new date can be decided. However the Northampton area has been set now.
