Bikers Youtube thread

I think about going to a faster bike and then I remember it's still very easy to look down at the speedo and be doing licence losing speeds already along with the fact it's perfect for my uses and easy for me to work on.

I've been riding my SV650 for a year and a half now, and it still feels bloody quick to me, at least up to 70mph.

I keep looking on Autotrader at bigger capacity bikes and I badly want a big super sports, but all things considered, the SV is pretty much the perfect middle distance commuter. I keep coming back to the S1000RR as being the friendliest super sports for commuting, but I just can't get on with the look of its headlights. As stupid a reason as that is!

That's how I feel about the CB400, yeah it's not that fast above 60mph, but as a communter it's nearly perfect - apart from no ABS. I have barely 2 miles of dual carriageway on my commute and there's plenty of go for overtakes on NSL roads.

I think I'm tempted by two things about large capacity sports bikes:

- Lazy commuting
- Awesome looks

Neither are great reasons, but the desire's there.

Both reasons why I want a 2nd bike, a litre v-twin for summer/touring use :D

4000rpm vs 8000rpm at motorway speeds, and shiny bling, carbon and ohlins and forged wheels :D

Both of you need to check some bikes out! A CBR600 is like a different bike to a SV650 although the gearing is different. Paul get a 600-800 and I think you will be happy. A 1000 v-twin is a massive jump from where u are. I know people that have gone from SV650 to a 1000 v-twin to 600 straight 4 to keep them alive/legal

The Tuono isn't a stupid power 1000cc bike, it's only 130bhp :D

Problem is, I want... no, NEED a v-twin, and there just aren't many 800cc v-twins about. The monster 821 which I test rode back in Novmeber 2014 was an awesome bike, and that's already 112bhp so 130bhp isn't a huge increase.

I've ridden the GSX-S1000, v-strom 1000, MT09, MT09 tracer, monster 821, think that's it.

Plus unlike some people *whistles :D I have self control and don't go three figures everywhere :D

I have an sv650 and do 300 miles a week commuting and whilst that little v twin is spot it just don't compare to my old CBR600fx!! Look at the aprillia shiver as a fancy more powerful version to the sv. OK its a naked but its probably not as scary as a vtr or sv1000!!

Try the TLR and VTR ;) none of what you have listed is like a v-twin sports

I'm not a sportsbike guy, naked is my bike of choice :D But the Tuono does have exactly the same engine (and chassis, and geometry, and everything in fact apart from the fairings and bars) as the RSVR sports bike, just with some minor changes to give some more low down torque.

Kinda my point really. Try the bike or similar before you buy it. None of what you have tried so far will compare :)

Ahh I see what you mean - yeah I'll definitely bet getting a test ride on one before I commit, the monster 821 should be roughly similar (and I friggin' loved that!) but it's quite a different beast :)

That's what bikes are about, your desire's. If you want something practical, you buy an economical car. :p

Vietnam looks like a crazy, mental place.

Schaaf's an experienced rider, I don't know how someone who's never ridden a bike before would think hiring a scooter there was a good idea!

It's like India, my mate sent me his cousins videos. Its mental, I wonder how many crashes there're during a day compared to UK.

My mate invited me to his place in India, maybe some day I'll go. All I heard is, the bigger the vehicle the more right of way you've. Sounds about right! :p

They end up medivacd after smashing their knee to bits and getting it pinned back together. At least that's what happened to the daughter of the woman in my office.
