Bikes : GT Avalanche / GT Aggressor

I'm getting a bike through my works Cycle2Work scheme, which means it needs to come from Halfords.

I was after the GT Avalanche 1.0 Disc 2008. However they tell me that they instead stock the GT Aggressor XC1 Disc 2008 which is almost identical. Could anyone confirm that the Aggressor XC1 is a good alternative?

That agressor has pretty much the same spec as my Avalanche expert which cost £100 more. I was gona get that one but they didn't have my size in the XC1. Tis a bit odd that spec and name cos it's not on the GT website and Halfords are the only ones that seem to have, must be an exclusive? I'd say go for it, it's a good spec for the price

I prefer the Avalanche, but for that money id try get the Rockhoppers, they are great bikes.

You don't need to buy what is instore! Halfords can order bikes but they are premium price a la Dixons and Curry's etc.
Find the bike you want then speak to them.

Last year I wanted a bike on the scheme but didn't fancy a Kona or any other Halfords bike. So I phoned their service line and ordered a Specialized FSR XC comp. They sourced the bike from Leisure Lakes which is a competitor to Halfords.
