Mother****** Bikes on this mother****** Train!!!

(Sorry, had to do it).

Anyway, I want to take my bike down to cornwall with me on thursday but it involves a trip on the tube and a train.

I found this link which says yes http://www.squarewheels.org.uk/bike/LUbikes but just want to check (I don't want to end up at Kings X and unable to use the tube...

Also, typing 'bicycles on the tube' into google gave me that as the first result. Very hard to do, isn't it?

As you may have alread noticed I already typed something like that in, which is where I got the first link, just wanted to be doubly sure...;)

I don't want to turn up and have a 10 minute argument with a ticket guy as he doesn't realise you can. :)

It's off the TFL website. That's about as accurate as the information is going to get.

I know, just didn't see it when I googled. :D

I'm just a bit paranoid tbh so thought there must be someone that has done it and knows the routine. :)

I think this is the problem you're going to have. I don't think I've ever seen anyone with a bike down on the tube and have just assumed you can't take bikes down there. Since few of the staff know their asses from their elbows and are very argumentative I would prewarn you that you're going to get grief. I would definitely take a printout of that pdf and see if you can find the web page it is linked to.

That was why I was so paranoid, although I don't use the tube a huge mount I've never seen one down there. I'll definately take a printout with me however just in case. :)

From what I remember (and I've not looked at the TFL website) you can only take full bikes (I.e. non folding bikes) on sections of Underground that travels above ground. Note this does not include the Circle Line as that is classed as being underground as despite a lot of it being exposed it is below street level...

TBH just looking at the map, even if they don't let me on, its only three miles... I'm starting to think I may just cycle it instead... Although that does waste the tube part of my ticket.

I didn't realise they were that close. :o

EDIT: Meh, it's still cheaper to get a return all the way than two sets of singles so bonus. :p

I've seen them turn people away with bikes before - but not idea either way if its supposed to be allowed or not - it was extremely busy at the time which was the reason they gave for not letting them in.

It looks like you can take your bike on sub surface lines like the Circle and District line. You can't take you bike on deep level lines like the Northern and Picadilly line unless it is on an overground section of the line.

I once broke down on my Motorcycle in Sunny Rhyl and they let me take it most of the way home on a train, I had to pay two fares and had to sit on it the whole way in between the doors, got some very strange looks from the people getting on, but I guess a guy sitting astride a Honda 400 isn't really the first thing you expect to see coming through the doors whilst boarding a train :D

They were pretty awesome about it really and saved me loads of cash, I was skint at the time so they helped me out a lot, I sure was knackered after pushing it the final 6 Miles home though.
