Bill from FedEx?

I got a bill through the door today from FedEx. Its relating to an order I made from Blizzard during their Blizzcon presale. It says I owe them £23.53 for some sort of customs charge.

The thing is I've already recieved the parcel. How can they charge me this after the fact? And what happens If I tear up the letter and refuse to pay?

It all looks above board to me. It has the full details of the order I made, a FedEx invoice and a booklet explaining duty and taxes invoices.

But why didnt they refuse to send me the parcel until after I payed up then? Why only now contact me? What if I said I couldnt afford to pay their hidden fees?

Because it was merchandise ordered from their Blizzcon presale. It was only available through the US store.

I take it they dont impose these charges on all parcels? I got something else from the states a little while before the Blizzard stuff and never got any customs charge for that package.

The one thing I thought was weird was that nowhere on any of the three sheets of paper I got in the letter does it say what will happen if I dont pay. Usually with a bill or credit card statement there will be something in the small print about what they will do to you if you dont cough up. Things like imposing late fees, taking you to court, etc etc. I honestly wondered if they even had any powers to do anything if I ignored it.

I paid it this morning anyway. Bit of a moot point now.
