Researching new DSL modem/Routers and was considering a 7800 but then came across various forum posts - The QoS implementation is trash.
If any QoS rules are set than any 1 host cannot use 100% of the bandwidth as a set % is ALWAYS reserved.
For example - A 20MBit WAN connection with a QoS rule defining 192.168.1.1 has high priority will only ever get 18Mbit and the remaining 2Mbit is reserved for other QoS usage.
Can anyone else confirm or deny these observations? Other users report 1.5Mbit of bandwidth on their line vanishes the second any QoS rules are configured.
This is useless to me - I need QoS prioritisation but any 1 host should be able to use 100% of the bandwidth assuming no other hosts are over-riding with a higher priority.
