Need to get QOS running to throttle down P2P abuse on a shared LAN, polite requests/communication doesn't work and installing client software is not an option. Due to the nature of the problem we need to limit the IP and preferably MAC of an individual PC as opposed to a specific port or protocol.

My first thought was my spare WRT54G hooked up as using the undocumented bridge mode then limiting the usage from that but I notice the Billion BiPAC 7300 is cheap and claims QOS on the feature list. Anyone used one and does it allow a per user restriction or just per service ? I have had a look at the manual and it does seem to provide what we need.

Here's the three options available under QoS on my Billion Router. As you can see, I don't use it... have no need basically. But, hopefully these screenshots will mean more to you. :)

Cheers.

Cheers FireGod, that looks like I can throttle a full port range on a selected IP thus solving the problem or better yet just cap the uplink per IP.

Thanks for the tip but I already run DDWRT and Tomato on my 54G's (Tomato as a test DDWRT on the main router). I'd just prefer not to loose my test device to someone if I can get them to spend £30 and buy an all in one solution.
