My friend has the Billion 8800 running two Xbox one the best connection we seem to be able to acheive is one open Xbox and the other moderate.

We can get both open on Xbox but Call of duty says moderate it a nightmare to sort out any ideas tried a lot of things?

i have an xbox and so do both my lads and this use to be a nightmare for us one had open one had strict and one had moderate

but it seems xbox realized that this was a prob and i dont know if you know but the new dash update microsoft have given you the option to use different ports now

goto settings then network then advanced then alternate ports and choose manual (make sure in router settings you have reset upnp )

you can then choose one of 5 ports to use

leave xbox 1 as normal 3074
set xbox 2 to one of the other 5 available that start with 5 so 51101 and restart xbox

now both those ports will become open on router and both xbox will be using different ports

all our xboxs are now open nat and work fine with chat and everything

We have just got two Xbox s mine is set to strict my lads is open , mine is in the cinema room using a old Bt router as a extender ( main router is a EE one ) any ideas how I get mine to open please

I had two Xboxes on same LAN for years and it was always the Xbox that turned on first that would be set to open, the other moderate. I did everything I could to get them both open but failed. In the end just stuck one of them in the DMZ and at least had one that was open.

It won't help with COD as it it's set to use port 3074, so I don't think using the alternative settings on the Xbone will work

In Call of Duty two Xbox use different ports but one Xbox on it own runs fine I have heard that it come down to Upnp of most router it done wrong.

It so frustrating to sort out I dont get why so much problem on these consoles.

Could be a daft question but... do the Xbox Live servers (and the consoles) use IPv6 at all? And if so, would that cure all these NAT problems?

EDIT: They do seem to from this article. https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-one/networking/ipv6-on-xbox-one

So I guess it's down to your ISP whether you can use it or not. Would like to test it out here as I know Sky use IPv6 but don't have two Xboxes. :p

Yes, IPv6 would solve it but not all ISPs support it in the UK yet.

The reason this happens is because when the Xbox comes out of standby, it doesn't make a request for the ports to be opened from the router so it still thinks the port(s) it asked for previously are still open. In the meantime, the router has closed those ports. If you don't use Instant On, you will find that the Xbox will get an open NAT as it will request ports to be opened when it boots up.

in theory, if you boot both Xboxes up from cold and your router is setup to support uPnP, both Xboxes will get open NAT. Call of Duty as mentioned above throws a spanner in the works regardless of this.
