Hiya. Me again.

Ive recently upgraded the base audio in my 118D. Took it to front and rear speakers with the added tweeters ( Harman Kardon ) and also upgraded the underfloor subs and whilst the sound is better I'm a little underwhelmed.

I did some reading up on the issues and I found that Bimmercode can let you change head unit options. Currently I'm struggling with which ones to change?

Anyone got a step by step guide for me?

Cheers

I'm not a fan of Bimmercode personally, I would recommend using ESYS, there's loads of retrofit guides and cheat sheets online. You might need to reflash the HK Module, when you do coding/reflash you need a constant voltage within this range 13.5-14.5, otherwise you're risking bricking the modules you're coding. I doubt you would be able to do this with Bimmercode in the first place tbh.

If you don't want to dedicate the time, it might be worth looking for someone that'll do it for a fee (I don't do this on other peoples cars, just my own - no exceptions).

Edit:

I think what you're referring to is the popular mod on 1 series cars which came with factory fitted HK Audio, you could change the EQ Curve to one from a different model.

Speaker upgrades on their own won't do much if you lack amplification The head units are fine, just add some amps and better speakers

I went with a helix MOST to keep the optical DSP functionality, Audison Forza amps, focal door & sub speakers and hertz rear & surrounds.
