the news video, a must watch if you not seen it

a 60 year old womann is beaten to the floor over a taxi , looks like a war zone.

whats the answer something needs to be done and quick!

ban alcohol?
ban under 21's
tighter drinking laws , ie go back to pre 1995 ( which wasn't so bad I can tell you.)
proper punishment?

what is the answer ???

Short term, put curfews in place for increasing periods of time in town centres where there is a significant drinking problem. That means say, all pubs, clubs and restaurants shut at 9:30pm, no-one allowed on the streets after 10pm. The pubs and clubs won't like it, but I believe they are a significant cause of the problem so tough.

Long term? I dunno, better education I guess but it's going to be an uphill struggle.

Needs a culture change, simple fact is that for most young men, a weekend night has to involve getting blindingly drunk, and most can afford it.

I think the focus should be more on those that commit drink related crime, than those who get drunk, as I think that is too big a challenge.

I think the whole drinking culture needs to change so that people don't see the purpose of drinking as to get drunk, but rather to relax with a nice beverage. Like smoking I noticed over the years has become less "cool" especially lately. I think education would be the best way, as an attempt to change the drinking culture, but for a lot of people it's too late now.

yes ban under 21, with VERY harsh penalties for those who drink under 21 and those who supply

I think that wouldn't work, it'll just result in a lot more people binge drinking at 21. If people start drinking when younger having a beer with a meal or whatever and enjoy that rather than getting ****ed then it might change their approach to alcohol at a younger age.

I have never been in a fight around town and that is 7 years of going out, people need to A) walk away from fights or potential fights B) grow up.

Anyone caught commiting an offense whilst intoxicated is fined £1,000. Failure to pay the fine results in 1000 hours of community service, failure to carry out this results in 1000 days in prison.
