Can someone please tell me what the term binned refers to when talking about cpu's?

Also can anyone share their uefi overclock settings for my new Asrock gen3 extreme4 please or tell me where to find some posted?

Speed binning is where CPU manufacturers know that certain CPU dies will work at certain speeds i.e. higher ones so they are kept for the higher end models. Anything that doesn't make the grade gets binned for a lower end model with a lower clockspeed.

A single wafer (the circular silicon disk which has CPU's circuits etched into) makes say 50 CPU cores, not all of these cores reach the same speeds due to

Manufacturing defects
Wafer impurities
Dust
Etc

Thus each one is cut from the waffer and tested to see if it works and if it can pass certain speed tests, then they are separated (binned) to be packaged into different speed CPU's

Looking forward to receiving the remainder of my parts tomorrow and getting this early costa rica chip tested..

Hoping for a good one
