Binoculars for birding.

As embarrased as am to admit, I think I'm turning into a bit of a Bill Oddie as I'm getting a bit into bird watching (of the feathered kind).

My cheap and cheerful catalogue shop pocket binoculars aren't all that good, so I'm looking for recomendations on decent binoculars suitable for birding with.

Any suggestions?

Get yourself to your nearest big RSPB reserve where they will let you try each type out. The only real way to find a pair of bins that suit you is to physically stick them up to your eyes and use them.

Good idea. At least that way I'll be able to try them in the field, as it were.
