Okay so I was banned for a year for drink driving. I had 2 pints and stupidly thought I was okay to drive. It turned out I was less than 5mg over the legal limit. I was caught, paid the price and have learned my lesson the hard way and am deeply ashamed. Needless to say I won't ever be getting behind the wheel if I have even so much as sniffed a pint of lager in future.

Anyway, on to my dilema. It's been a while since I last looked around (my last car was a BMW 318si) and to be honest don't really have a clue about whats hot and whats not these days.

What I am looking for is something relatively stylish and "new looking" for around the 4-5k (much cheaper than my last car :() mark max, obviously the cheaper the better so if you can find me a bargain for 3k then please don't hesitate to mention it. Also due to me having just had my ban lifted it needs to be reasonable insurance-wise. Yep I know I am going to get hit hard with that but I have to deal with it.

At this point in time I am not too concerned about performance, I just need something to get me back on the road... And it has to be something I am not ashamed to be seen in. :p

So lads... Spec me up!

second that, focus 1.6/1.8 imo cheap cheerful on the old insurance not slow not fast, and cheapish to run.Lovely drive and especially the 3 door (not biased at all  ) look great

The focus is good choice, but if you want something the little bit more standoutish..

VX Astra Coupe, 1.8 or 2.2, easily had for £4-5K, usually low miles, and they look pretty sporty, with good insurance..

Isnt he going to struggle to insure anything anyway?

Past convictions? - Yes Drink driving.

Bans?- Yes one year.

Ocupation?- Pop star.

One ban, One conviction, one "sorry we do not insure that ocupation".

How bout a Seat Leon 1.6?

Pros:
Better interior than the Focus (better materials, more solid).
loverly styling (IMO of course..but then im biased :p ).
not the quickest car but not bad (0-60 in 9.? not that 0-60 is much use).
Aircon, ABS etc all the usual stuff.
Only IG6

Cons:
A similarly specced Focus is cheaper
Rear visibility is not too great thanx to the high level boot line

Apart from the above the Focus and Leon are about equal, not sure what the IG's for the Focus are like, probably about the same id guess.

The 1.6 Focus is IG6, the 1.8 being IG7.

The Leon 1.6 does 0-60 in 10.6 which incidently is the same as the Focus 1.6.

Jason Donnovan.

Lmao! My manager actually worked with both Jason and Kylie... Also one of my producers recorded him!

And yes I take the mickey out of him for producing such a cruddy act. :p

Anyway... enough of this popstar lark, i'm not exactly a star yet! ;)

Thanks for all the great suggestions guys. Keep them coming if you can think of anymore. I should be starting my hunt tomorrow.

Cheers!

EDIT: Question... What cheeky chappie renamed my thread? :D

sorry to be nosey, but are you a recording artist or are you part of a band or whatever ?

I'm a solo artist, with a band of session musicians which I have used for important gigs or showcases for labels such as Polydor, Sony etc.
