BIOS and Windows Splash Screen Red

Hi there,

Recently I've been having trouble with my custom build PC. I took the hard drive out of it to clean the dust out behind the bay, with an air duster. After replacing the hard drive, I didn't turn the computer back on for a fair while.

I've just turned the computer on and the BIOS screen is still functional, but it's red and not blue. The Windows splash screen also appeared red, before the screen turned off completely and told me to check the signal cable. I've tested this a couple of times and the same thing happens, with the graphics cutting out just before I hit the log in screen. Does this sound like a hard drive problem to you? Or could it be a graphics card issue and me pulling out the hard drive was just a coincidence?

Thanks in advance

Emma

Take out your graphics card, give it a gentle clean, re-seat it and make sure it is in securely. Make sure the monitor cable (DVI/VGA) is also securely connected both into the monitor and GPU's output on the back.

If it is still distorted colours etc then it could be faulty.

What card is it and when/where did you buy it?

Thanks for your input, guys. I'll take it out, give it a clean and re-seat it in a bit. Sparx, in answer to your question, the card is a Gigabyte GTX460 SuperOverclock and I bought it from ****** in Jan 2011.
