Up a Tree...
hello.

after two motherboards, and 2 PSU's... and 3 weeks later,

finally got my new motherboard - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-118-AS&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=810

i didnt pay that price, but yea its new and from different source,

anyway...
my old thread i made about my problem is here. if you wish to look at it.
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17750673

i just got my new motherboard this afternoon,
carefully installed it all and placed back together.

i have connected everything,

but im getting 1 LONG bleep and 3 SHORT bleeps, after i turn her on.
i know its something to do with the graphics card. but i tested this in another pc and it booted fine on it, all worked.

i checked all the cables and all connected fine, even the graphics power cable. but i still get the boot bleeps.

any idea's?

would be much very very helpfull right now for me ;)

p.s its my birthday tomorrow, so would be nice if i could get my pc running again, its been so long since i used it :)

Happy Birthday for tomorrow :)

You're right in thinking that a beep code of 1L3S is to do with video. It's a case of reseat, check connections, check power. If all of those fail, and you know that the card is definitely working, try the other PCI-E slot and see if it works there. It also may pay off to reset the CMOS, just in case :)

Thanks ;)

Yea the motherboard is new out of the box, didnt think i would need to reset the Bios, maybe i should try that,

i have checked all the cables everything thats attached has power to it, everything lights up ok, just get the 1 long, 3 short...

the graphics card is a ATI Saphire 512mb 1900xtx, i dont have a spare i can test in this one,

but when i was busy working out the motherboard problems before we tested all my memory and graphics card in my uncles pc, and it worked fine.

Depending o the sort of BIOS you have it could be one of several things:

AMI BIOS = Conventional/Extended memory failure

IBM BIOS = Video (EGA) Display Circuitry

It could also be a System Timer Failure.

Those beep codes also refer to the monitor cable so check that as well as reseating your card.

well.

Asus A8N32-SLi Deluxe nForce4 SLi X16 (Socket 939) PCI-Express
thats my motherboard, and its new in the box, so i havnt done much to it, just installed it all.

i will try a cmos reset and check it all again,

i will try the monitor cable again too, i know the vga cable works into it, as it was working on the 360,

i check the DVI cable ;)

ok now i get...

1 long bleep, 3 short, then around 10seconds later 1 more short bleep :/

the amount of money i have spent on a new psu, motherboards...
graphics card does spin at max speed, but.. still no display on screen, just get those bleeps.

i test my screen cables again, but i dont think it is, due to i tested my old 17inch tft on it, but still did same problem.

Sorry yes GPU = Graphics Processing Unit (or card ;) )
imo = in my opinion.

Sorry for the leet speak :)

Its been a good excuse to upgrade ;) just pretend its CPU next after you got yourself a nice 8800 ;)

ah i get you now ;)

i will have to wait till i get my hands on a 2nd graphics card to test it,

but it was working fine in my uncles pc :(
not sure what else i can do now, i guess i just have to leave it for today

For a PC no to post, it can only be a few things.

Youve ruled out mother board (by buying a new one), if youve tested GPU to work in another machine then that should be fine also (testing another card in your machine wont hurt though). You also ruled out PSU (again by buying new)

Next is either CPU or RAM to test.....

Other than that is your keyboard/mouse working??? As a faulty keyboard or mouse (USB or PS2) can cause stupid issues during post.

Hope this helps

thanks for the help,

yep, ruled out the PSU, and motherboard by both buying new parts.

tested my graphics card & memory in my uncles pc, booted his fine, and played game.

tested a old amd 3200 in my old motherboard and worked, (didnt post though)
but cpu is working, and my other parts too.

my mouse and keyboard are working fine, use them for laptop and xbox 360

i will have to see what my uncles card does... if it does the same?
what will that mean...

also... just tried it in the 2nd PCI-express slot... did the same thing, wont post and 1 long, 3 short bleeps.

also, what would be my warrenty on my graphics card?
the ATI Saphire 512MB 1900xtx cross fire ?

would it be 1 year? or more...
as its now a year and a half since i made my pc, but my motherboard is 3 years, so im sending that back next week, for RMA. not sure how long my graphics card has, doesnt say on box.

ok?

just tried my uncles pci express card in my pc, and same thing,

1 long, 3 short bleeps...
i disconnected all my harddrives same thing,

took out memory, i get lots of bleeps, try 1 stick, same 1 long, 3 short...

im running out of idea's,

my uncle's got a pci graphics card, so i will pick that up tomorrow and test it with that, if it works using that, then probably a new... faulty motherboard?

all i can sum up is... its my birthday! and i HATE pc's! :P

good job, im going out later to watch transformers :)
