Bios Bleeps... 1 long. 3 short... boot problems.

i cant believe i gone through 3 motherboards in 3 weeks :(

i guess it is buggered aswell, i will try it with a pci card 2moro,
and if it loads the bios then most likely it is buggered,

either way, if it doesnt or does work, the pci express slot isnt working.
so it will have to be RMA :(

Dude, I am saying this as politely as possible :)
What's your experience with builds ?
I ask because after building systems from mainly second parts for a while now i can't remember the last time a mobo i owned was borked. Of course there are the odd borked ones about but all the problems i have had with Mobos' have been caused by me. Either i've been careless in a speedy quick build or i have been ignorant & done something wrong.
I would suggest doing some research, some Heavy reading & then a Full strip down & rebuild.
I only say this because in All my cases a rebuild has brought my attention to my Own mistakes. Hopefully it'll be the same for you & you'll be sorted & there'll be no need for the wait of a return.

thanks, yea thats fine i take it politely ;)

i have been fine with building and fixing mine and my uncles pc for years,
i had my first pc around 7 years ago, maybe more.

built my first buid about 2 years ago, bought all the compenents, and built it myself, fine, had no problems till now,

never had viruses, boot issue's, bios problems..

ran the pc nicely in RAID for ages,

im allways carefull how i put it into the case, takes me hours to put it together so i dont rush it, but... i cannot see anything im doing wrong, even the pc specialist i talk to, looked how i put it together, and saw no problems,

i will next time i get a new one, check online for a step by step, but im allways checking i do everything right anyway, either in the motherboard manual.. or online forums.

for me too, this is the first time i have had any problems with the motherboard. :/

Oh well worth a post i thought. Total Bumma then dude & me and many others have felt your pain. Nowt worse than having all the bits & not having it running sweetly.
I would still rebuild it though & would rebuild it constantly until last thing Sunday night when i had to pack it up for return. Like a dog with a bone me :D

well...

installed a PCI graphics card into one of the slots,

didnt do the bleeps, except for... didnt boot anyway,
had no display, or POST,

i had one bleep, then few seconds later another bleep...

so... really confused in whats wrong,
i will try it outside the pc case before i send it back for RMA :/

I may have missed somthing here, but is your CPU OK in another board?
I cocked one up the other day, fitted a new PSU and I put the wrong 4 pin power plug into the M/B == No signal to Monitor, nothing wrong with my G/Card. But I got 1 long x 3 short beeps, put correct 4 pin socket in board + another CPU all is well !!!!!! :D

yea i believe its the correct 4 pin power socket for the board, as the graphics card lead has PCI-E on it, and the CPU, was fun, and the other one i tested was ok..

i supose i could put other way round and test...
but i dont think im getting anywhere,

im waiting for what ASUS have to say about it,
but if i have gone through 3 asus boards...

i may just look elsewhere, :/

ok i had enough of it now..

going to RMA the first motherboard and the new one i just got.

sell my AMD 4400+ my ocz 2gb memory, and... start again!!!

i think i will look at the Intel stuff, as they are running nice and cheap too.
only problem is cash at the mo,

and finding a decent motherboard...
which can do RAID. have around 3+ PCI slots, can do PCI-E 16slot.

i will probably sell my cpu and maybe memory to my uncle.
but will need to start it all again :/

i wont loose my harddrives will I? my work on them, and windows...
the two raptors are in RAID, and i could still boot up with that on a new Intel motherboard all being well... (first time going Intel... unless AM2 is good...)

any advice?

just to update it:

i sent both the first motherboard and the new board back to the company i bought from, both was tested and found faulty.

and both are getting refunded, which is good news :)
now i can hopefully get a new motherboard (this time im going gigabyte)

touch wood... i get no more problems!

thanks for the help everyone.

Sheesh! What a pallava!!

You've had some rotten luck there mate - I'm about to build myself a new rig too, I have built 2 before but the last was over 3yrs ago so I'm not that confident.... :(

Reading things like this make gulp a bit and wonder if I should buy a 'ready made' from somewhere......

Hope you get things sorted OK soon ;)
