BIOS check ID error.

Hey all I still got this problem for my CPU not getting recognised:

Basically my CPU doesn't come up as XP2400 in the BIOS instead it comes up at XP1800.

So I wanted to flash the BIOS to the latest which is F17 on the website I got F12 installed the @BIOS thing only installs this one.

So I downloaded F17 and stuck it on a floppy but then when I go into Q flash it starts to read the 512kb BIOS file then it says

"BIOS CHECK ID ERROR"

So I tried F16 and F14. Same thing

What is this? I am sure I selected the right BIOS.

Does the board have a Qflash option in its BIOS that enables you to update the BIOS using a floppy?

yes it does

then I select update main bios from floppy

go into the floppy drive and then select the 512k file that is called something like 7400npro f16.

then it give me the error
is there another way to update the bios? through a floppy but not in OS?

Wrong BIOS file for the board.

I thought you were going to post a closeup image of your CPU in the other thread.
And an image of your board to confirm what it is wouldn't hurt at this point.

I mean inside the actual BIOS and not in the OS. Gigabyte have a Qflash utility that's an option inside the BIOS.

Yes it is inside of the BIOS I have to press F8 once I am in there.

I might have to but that is a long mission though to open it all up.

I am sure the CPU is a 2400 and my board is def what I tell you but no harm in a few pictures

Hi you know that site you referenced me to.

Do you mean to say that the @BIOS in the OS could have flashed the wrong BIOS to my board?

I just had a thought using Qflash I will try to restore back to the original BIOS by copying the backup bios to the main one. If that works then I will try flashing it using floppy straight to F17, F16 or F14.

The BIOS I got right now is F12 and the one I had before this was F5.

Might be worth a shot what you reckon?
