Hi everyone, this evening after having built my 1st PC I tried to start the PC and go into the bios. Took me an hour and nothing would appear on the screen then after another attempt the bios appeared but got an error message saying that the bios was corrupted and that it was booting from the backup.

I stopped at this stage and want to ask fellow members if I should return the mobo or proceed further? The mobo is a z87-dh3p.

Take everything aprt and start again, boot up with out the GPU, if still the same could be mobo issue, check the CPU and Ram are 100% fitted correctly.

Try a CMOS reset, either by bridging the CLRCMOS header or pop the battery for 10mins with no power to board.

I would let the board sort it's self out :)

+1 This is a deffo, and count yourself luck as most other boards would have been nothing more then a paperweight if the primary BIOS is damaged beyond repair.

You can re flash the primary BIOS with the backup one once the machine is up and running.

Don't have a GPU - I am so exhausted after doing this don't think I have the energy to do it all over again. Been working on it each night after a 8.5hr day :(

So you guys think persist with the current mobo?

I think you should persist for a little more, trying a simple CMOS reset would not hurt.

Also you can use the onboard GPU.

What are your full specs?

Let it recover the main BIOS from backup, once done flash the BIOS to latest one from gigabytes website using a Usb memory stick and from within the BIOS using qflash

I'm sorry what you mean by CMOS reset? May just try popping battery out???

Yep, with the power switched off at the mains.

Or the header in the motherboard, short with a screwdriver - the manual will show the location, usually by the fromt I/O header port.

Do it before, from within the BIOS itself, look for qflash, and update to latest BIOS (download latest BIOS first, then extract it to the Usb stick)

hi everyone, after a well earned rest and reflecting on last nights issues have decided to just replace the mobo. as i also had an issue with the cpu_fan connection not working when initially it was but then stopped and i had to connect the noctua to the cpu_opt connection.

question i want to ask is when removing the cooler radiator from the cpu will it just slide off, or does it need to be prized off? also what should i use to remove the thermal paste?
