Just curious about this...

Overclocked E6400 on ab9 pro to 2.8ghz. Stable. Not terribly impressive, I know. I was getting 3ghz but I suspect my ram config is a pig and anyway I'm new to overclocking.
Then after a week or so, upon power up - almost every time- the bios would default to basic settings at post. Tried removing batt and reset cmos.
Checked bios battery on multimeter at 3.06v. I couldn't check the "on load" reading of the battery but I suspect the battery is ok.

The only thing I did to stop this defaulting behavior was password protect the bios. It's been fine since.

I've scanned for virus and malware. Nothing found.

I'll be upgrading soon to sandybridge (fingers crossed) so really not irked by this glitch. Just curious.

Any guesses? Then again, knowing me, I'm probably overlooking something obvious.

Thanks.
