Hi so my pc that had been stable for 1-2 years but it decided to freeze whilst idling when I was watching TV.
This happened around 2 hrs after upgrading my graphics card from a 7950 to a sapphire 290x vapor.
For about 90 mins I played the pc maxing out the new r 290x without any issues under load.
but it froze later when idle.
so the 1st thing I thought I would do was update my Asus sabretooth p67 bios incase there was a problem with it and the board.
This is where it all went messed up.
I used the ez bios updater built into the bios. And pointed it to the bios ROM file which was on my C drive ( bad move there ) ??
I hit return and the update started and it said processing.
After that was done I was asked to restart the pc. Which I did . Now all I get is a bios message saying reading failed . and it seems stuck in this loop Every time i restart the pc.. I have tried resetting the cmos ( well I think it's clearing ) but yet when it reboots I get a message saying " please enter setup to recover bios settings . Press f1 to run setup "
However when I press f1 I get the error message " reading failed " again and I'm stuck in that loop.

Atm I am unable to see even the cmos battery due to all the armor.
Plus forgot to say there is a red light now lit on the motherboard above where the gfx is . Beside the red light it says "BOOT _ DEVICE _ LED"

What you should have done is flash it from a usb stick. Your board has Asus Crash Free bios 3 so you need to do the following:-

To use asus's crash free bios 3 you must:

Insert the motherboard support disc into the optical drive or insert a usb with the bios file inside

After CrashFree BIOS 3 starts working, you will hear 2 short "beeps" sound indicating that the BIOS file is recognized.

If you hear 5 short "beeps", it mean no BIOS file is found.

After hearing 2 short beeps, please wait 4 minutes for the CrashFree BIOS 3 operation to complete.

Restart your system.

If that fails then you need to take all that armour off the board and oreder a new bios chip like Wazza300 suggests.
Thanks will try that later when I get home from work.
As for the cmos battery is it hidden behind some of the armor as I never seen it. Or maybee the gfx was hiding it.. If it's behind the armor on the sabretooth p67 does the armor all come of in 1 piece or is there a specific piece I must remove...
