I have a Ryzen 5600x and an ASUS Prime x570-p that needs a compatible CPU to flash the BIOS. Other than the obvious advice, that I bought the wrong motherboard, what are the options for flashing the bios?

I have a Ryzen 1600 in another motherboard but that's not compatible with the x570 board.

Any help from OEMs or retailers?

You need bios flashback to update the motherboard without a cpu but that motherboard does not have that feature.

You can either send it back and swap with a board that does have bios flashback.

I think you can request a cpu from AMD which will let you flash the bios.

You could ask the seller to update the bios but there may be z charge.

It maybe worth trying the 1600 as I've heard they can work in boards that are not supported.

Thanks for the advice. The Ryzen 1600 worked in this Asus prime x570 -p and I was able to post, get to the bios and flash the BIOS, however, after the flash it didn't post any more. Fitted the 5600x and it now posts, so job done, but beware of the consequences of flashing!

Thanks for your help.
