I have an ASUS P5Q-E, recently, every other time I cold boot, I will get the ASUS EZ Flash utility screen with a message saying my bios is corrupt and needs to be flashed. Its becoming a pain now, I have a USB stick with the bios ROM file on it so I can flash it quickly each time this happens.

What could be the cause and more importantly the solution? Also could this in anway be related to Windows 7 as its only happened since I've been using 7. Could it be something trivial like the CMOS battery needs replacing?

Well it doesnt sound like the battery, I would expect it just to lose the settings, not say that its corrupt. But that said its a cheap quick easy cause that your could rule out by swapping it out so I would recommend changing it all the same. Otherwise it could be that the BIOS chip has had it, I know you can get replacement ones, but if it was me I would probably just get the board RMAd if possible and the battery swap does nothing.

Its unlikely that windows 7 is the cause as windows has no effect on the BIOS.

Have you tried running it on stock settings for a few days? I assume from your sig that your overclocking it. :D

I had cold boot issues with my striker II extreme as well, it was stable in windows, but didn't want to cold boot.

Been running all stock speeds since it started (last week some time). I can't believe how poor ASUS' website is, incredbly slow. I have just registered the serial incase I need to RMA - which I hope isn't necessary. No mobo = no PC, based on the speed of their website I doubt their RMA service.

Yeah, their website is utterly atrocious. Why don't you send them a technical inquiry? They get back to me usually within a day or two.
