BIOS Knackered

I have a HP Mini 110 1160-SA Netbook

The netbook never boots into Windows or any operating system and always hangs at the Compaq POST screen.

On inital start up I get an error about serial number not found, then BIOS detects hardware (HDD, RAM)

Then it goes back to the POST screen and hangs/freezes.

So suspect BIOS is corrupt or some issue with BIOS,

I have replaced the following but get the same problem

1 - CMOS Battery
2 - RAM
3 - Hard Disk

No matter what I press F10 or F9 to go into BIOS it never enters the BIOS

Is the BIOS faulty ? Is the laptop faulty ?

All help much appreciated

Have you tried flashing or updating the BIOS. Worth a go.

yes I did using the AMI Recovery method and it seemed to have gone thru successfully. But same problem.

It does seem like a dead BIOS

looks like a duff BIOS - some guy in Nederlands is selling a BIOS chip for this laptop programmed for 11 quid not bad, but as I cant solder may have to take it to a laptop repair place to remove duff BIOS and solder on new one.
