hi, complained about my mobo in a thread yonks ago but didnt reli get the help i needed.

on further research now i know my mobo - asus m2n4-sli with nForce4 chip set has a problem with some cpu's where it limits the Vcore to 1.35 as a maximum which reli doesnt cut it when it comes to OC'ing as i'm sure all are aware.

The answer seems to be modifying the bios using a tool such a modbin6 , however i have not been able to find any modded bios' posted online apart from one which was a link to saying it had been removed.

I have never modded a bios and think it may be hard to unlock / unhide features to allow Vcore up to 1.5 (which i have read the mobo is capable of CPU dependant) in asus award bios'

What i would like to know is:
does anyone have a modded bios for this mobo,
am i to be the white knight to try make one or
is there a good reason why not to like frying the board or
should i get the wallet out and just buy another mobo.

Thankx for any help

As far I remember when I had that board, its max vcore was 1.35v with both a 6000X2 and 5200X2. So I'm not sure it's CPU dependant.

some guys been saying in forums that theirs was at 1.4 V for Vcore etc.
and a guy who was gona do a bios mod on a forum, before the guy it was for chickened out incase couldnt recover or flash bios after, said that in watever program he was using to mod the bios he could see the possibility to allow the Vcore up to 1.5v.

what did u do in end? pack that board in or u get anywhere with it? from wat ive seen FSB wont b stable much above 230 so noot much point trying lower multipliers to accomodate the crap voltage lol

Nah that board is still running the 5200X2 stock in a family member's PC. I had a M2N32-SLI as my main AM2 board, which I still use for my backup PC with the 600X2 in.

well after some work, mainly to get around vista and being 64 x limiting the programs i could use, i have created a new bios for my m2n4 sli board that will allows voltage increase to the cpu all the way up to 1.5 v for Vcore. have not flashed it yet as need to see about recovery should it not work etc etc as well as i need to see that if it does work that the mobo can physically take the voltages..... think i may be purchasing a cheap board on ebay as a back up should things go pear shapped lol.

Will let ppl know in a new thread perhaps if all works out, seems to be plenty of ppl crying out for a bios that can do this online though they were probably years ago :(

made a modified bios and flashed it, had set for voltages to be allowed etc however when using the bios voltages i didnt want such as 0.8 vcore did switch off and not appear but ones i set to be allowed did not appear and hence there is still somehting that limits what can be seen by the mobo dependent on what processor u have installed which the manual also states. duno wat controlls this etc.

my fix = bought m3a32 mvp deluxe on ebay :P no more messing around
