BIOS not holding FSB even tho Enabled?

I have had my CPU running happily as in signature at 388FSB 8x multi but just yesterday and for no apparent reason I noticed on the post screen that it was running at default of 200FSB 8x multi (confirmed by CPU-z).

I have not changed anything recently (other than X-Fi drviers) that could have caused this and it is a stable overclock so i cant work out what is going on.

I have tried going into BIOS and even tho it says user defined FSB 'enabled' set at 388 (after 'disabling' restarting then 'enabling') it still posts at 200FSB.

Help and thoughts appreciated cos i'm confuddled

had the same problem as you with my system after a few reboots and messing about in bios i couldn't get it so i switched it off at the wall for a few mins switched it back on and hey my o/c was enabled again, so maybe try switching it off at the wall. don't know why or how that would effect it but system has been happy ever since

I and my friend also have this problem on a P35C DS3R. Does my bloody nut, but Im on the latest BIOS now and its holding ok. Seems to be fine for an odd amount of reboots, then one day I'll turn on and the pc will reset a couple times and boot at defaults. Might be, as mentioned above, a dodgy bout of batteries. Havnt got a new spare one to try though so cant really test it.

I have a similar problem with my P965-DS3P, been running fine for a few months and then over the last few weeks it resets but just the FSB, it sets the FSB overclock to disabled, I can then then re-enable it and it's back running at 400fsb till the next time.

Could it be the battery as from my experience battery problems would normally result in an entire BIOS reset with time/date and all other settings needing resetting but for me this isn't the case.

this has just started happening on my board too, updated bios to F12 a few days ago.

turned the pc off last night and it instantly turned off which i thought was rather strange, turn it on this morning and it did it's 8 or so power on/off cycles till it resets the overclock settings and now when i set them it wont hold at all.

reset cmos and turned off at the wall etc and no joy :(

will try another battery later today.

I reset the CMOS on mine a while back by removing and replacing the battery. I didn't replace it properly, and it was a little loose, causing the CMOS not to save anything.

i had a problem kind of the same, tried to clock my q6600 to a measly 3ghz, couldnt get it to boot at all. even with auto vcore. ended up doing a bios flash from evga's p26 (which my board had) to the latest p32. worked wonders. flashed from within windows, q6600 stable as a rock @3.0ghz on 1.3vcore. temps a bit on the high side but thats my crappy crooked cooler.

Have just stumped up the money for a different board after reading about people having this problem and instability (random reboots / loops) with the board I purchased originally (Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R). Bit of a kick in the teeth, but I want the maximum from my Q6600!

Tried a different battery but still i get the problem.

Gonna try a real early bios see if that fixes it, because I dont remember this being a problem a while back.
