BIOS/Post Screen

I am using a Hanns-G HW191D 19" Widescreen monitor connected via DVI to a Radeon 7500. I have applied the latest drivers for both AGP card and monitor.

Problem is that the screen only switches on once windows UI loads. There is nothing from the BIOS screen.

If I use a analogue cable, all is well - I can see the BIOS screen fine.

So, is there a problem with the monitor or can the Radeon 7500 not handle the output required to display the DOS bootup screens over DVI? Is it a motherboard issue (Abit KR7A-133)?

I am happy to buy a new AGP graphics card, but not if that isn't the problem!

Thanks in advance!

My Samsung does this, turn the computer off (switch it off via PSU) turn it back on then turn the computer on and see if it works.

Apparently this also happens with the ATI x8x0 series of cards at times, also heard about it happening on a x1550, on the x1550, it only happened using DVI-D (ie digital) but not using analogue connection, with it the BIOS screen appears.

this seems to be a problem with older ati cards as mentioned above. i had 2 x800series cards which did this. only solution was to connect via vga like you've already discovered. :p

and tbh, i couldn't tell the difference between that and dvi anyway. :)
