Yesterday i reset my computer and got C1 on my post screen (Little LCD). I was worried so i looked in the manual and said

"Detect Memory"

I reset my bios, loaded defaults and windows 7 loaded up fine. So i reset my computer, changed my bios settings and rebooted to get the same error again.

It seems everytime i attempt to change my BIOS settings i get this error. I would run memtest86 but i cant change my boot settings without it getting an error.

Anyone know a fix? i cant even restart my computer at the moment without resetting the bios everytime.

Is it possible to remove one stick and reset the CMOS and re-try the settings, if that fails try the other stick.

Whats the full spec:

Full specs:

E6850 @ stock now since cant access bios
4gb ddr2 ram
Abit AB9 pro
HD5670
CX600w psu

I removed all sticks of ram, Since its 4 x 1gb. I put 1gb in, same problem. I did this with all 4 sticks and still got same error everytime. I thought maybe a bios problem since i can run my pc fine with default bios settings.

Definitely a strange one, Some ways that may rule out a faulty memory module.

The other option is perhaps reload the BIOS from a file, or check Abit to see if you have got the latest.

Have you tried a full CMOS reset? Remove the battery, flick the CMOS reset and leave for 15mins, then battery back in, and CMOS back to default position and try that.

Thank you both for your replies.

Removing the battery and replacing it seemed to work, ive restarted my computer several times now and seems to be booting fine.
