BIOS probs on Sus P4S800MX

Hello Peeps,

A cousin asked me for PC upgrade advice and I was stunned to find the legendary, Prescot ready , ASUS P4S800-MX labouring under the dual handicap of the cheapest celery processor and 256 Mb of RAM !
A 3.2GHz (skt 478) P4 and 2Gb of Samsung memory were installed, the latest BIOS obtained from Asustek and EZflash was run... "failed to flash!"
I have tried to use older versions of the BIOS file, but I always get "failed to flash!"
Using Asus AFLASH.exe, the error message says "failed to find BIOS hook"

Any suggestions would be appreciated guys

Is there not some utility on the mobo installation CD to recover from a bad BIOS flash...?

Thanks _ i'll check again, but EZflash, Aflash.exe should do it and Asus say it will lok for BIOS on floppy if installed Bios is corupt - unfortunately it isn't sufficiently corrupt for it to do that yet!
