Simple (and I imagine obvous) bios question.

I bought a new CPU as an upgrade - which requires a bios update. The bios version specified that is required for this CPU is older than the most recent. Is it ok to update to the newest bios? Or is the specified bios the more preferable? My instinct is the newset will be fine, but thought I'd just check.

Not sure what you mean by this?

Thanks all for your help btw.
Some boards require you update to a certain version bios before going to the latest bios instead of you skipping all the bios versions and going directly to the latest.

what CPU did you buy and what bios version are you currently on?

Edit, looks like they added the 5000 series CPU support on bios version 7C02v3I and I cannot see anything on the descriptions stating you need to upgrade to a certain version first before installing the latest

Thanks. I already flashed to 7C02v3J, which is later than the one you linked. Updated ok, so hopefully will be good when I install the 5700X3D.

Always get the latest BIOS but avoid beta ones. I had to get a beta BIOS for windows 11 support which gave me loads of crashes. This was a beta. When they did a proper release it was fine. Not had crash in a very long time.

It was 2022 when I had the issue. Not had since then until I swapped processor and managed to get some Thermal compound on the pins lol.
