Looking for help on how to reset the bios on a Toshiba Satellite L50-C-1T1

1 year old laptop suddenly decided to put a bios password on itself :(

Tried the usual remove battery and looked for points on motherboard but cant find any.

No bios battery to remove either

Thanks in advance :)

looks like the above, but labelled g2

might be under the ram

edit: just had a thought also, if it set itself probably a default password like "Toshiba" or "Toshiba"

and also not sure the above reset will clear the password only reset bios might have to call toshiba (apprently some common issue with their bios firmware etc)

they like to hide under stickers also

Already checked under the stickers and tried a whole list of default passwords :(

if there is no battery might use the main battery, maybe remove this for at least an hour or so to make sure all the charge is gone from capacitors etc

failing that, toshiba support give them a call it seems from googling this is a bit of a common issue they should be able to help

Thanks but already left the batter out for about 10 days whilst away on holiday...no effect.

will try Toshiba but its out of warranty so guessing that will be an issue with them :(

Thanks though :)

not a warranty issue, they should be able to give you default password/method of reset as long as you can prove its yours.

I found this to be helpful for resetting the Supervisor password a friend set on the Toshiba L50-B-1UV with motherboard DA0BLKMB6EO. Shorting these two gold triangles with some tweezers took immediate effect of removing the password, no need to remove anything although I did remove the HDD to prevent data corruption. NOT SURE IF THIS CORRUPTS A SECTOR IN THE HARD DRIVE BUT FIXING THE COMPUTER RENDERED THE HDD LIKELY TO FAIL AND COULDNT BOOT FROM IT SO BEWARE, EVEN THOUGH IT WASNT INSERTED WHEN PERFORMING THIS SHORT. NO WARRANTY! A NEW HDD WORKS THOUGH LUCKILY FOR ME

Dazza91 thanks for the instructions, I just want to mention that you need to short those contacts while turning the laptop on. It works flawlessly.

Cheers
