Bios seemed to have changed without me doing anything

Hello guys,

Something strange happened when I started my PC on this morning. The Gigabyte splash screen I normally get on my x58A-UD3r rev 1 was replaced by a generic bios screen from award technologies. Even in the bios setup it was ticked but wouldn't come back. I also got some crazy flickering on the mouse selectable icons on the windows 8 login screen and boot times seem a bit slower as a result.

Any ideas?

did any updates install on windows?

sounds to me like updates or drivers

Nope, no windows updates installed, so I have no idea what is up. In order to try and fix things I updated my bios to F6 to see if it changes anything and now I'm missing my Marvel mv91xx SATA 3 controller....... dam I hate PCs sometimes

Go through all of the programs of the whole PC and see what they all are incase you downloaded something that installed other crap on your PC that does stupid updates or changes all by itself. Anything you dont know how it got there get rid of it. Then get several free anti root-kit and virus type programs and scan the whole PC to see what comes up. If that still does not work and new bios dont work the rma it or format the whole pc and try to start from the start.

It's a dual-bios board isn't it? have you switched to the secondary bios without realising it?
