Hi all

I've got a 1tb drive that my BIOS sees and it can boot from, but when I connect and boot from my Windows 8 drive, this 1tb drive never appears in Windows 8 (not even in drive management as if no drive letter had been allocated). Has anyone got any ideas what's going wrong?

Thanks

you probably need to assign a new drive letter to it,if it has the same drive letter c as your other windows hdd it wont show up

Thanks, but the drive wouldn't show up at all.

I've *finally* managed to get the drive to appear, but only by connecting it to the 3rd party SATA controller on my motherboard. Anyone know why the drive won't show up at all connected to the standard SATA ports?

Thanks

when connected via SATA does it show in device manager? have you made sure it's plugged in correctly and tries different cables?

It doesn't show in device manager at all, but it does show in the BIOS, and can be booted from (Win XP). I've tried different cables, but the original cable works fine when the drive is connected to the 3rd party SATA controller.
