Quick question. Bought some new mem few weeks ago, Geil DDR2-667 (333MHz). On the sticks it states that they are rated at 2.1v and 4-4-4-12. Should I got into bios and manually put the settings in or leave them on auto? Would this make a difference? I'm not overclocking atm as my mobo is a poo overclocker as it limits me on the vcore (1.35v max) and has a max x13 multiplier.

It should help download cpu z to see what they are running at and if it's running slower input the timings on the sticks, you can use super pi to check what difference it's made.

Set the Memory Clock option to 333mhz.

In the mem type option in the bios I've set it to DDR2-667 (333) if that's the same thing as you've suggested. Should I be changing anything with regard to the HT link speed or is that for when I change the bus/multiplier for the cpu?

what an amazing background lol

Ah yes, that'll be Kayleigh Pearson, High Street Honey Winner 2003 with possibly one of the finest derriere's! :D

Yip DDR2-667 (333) will be the same thing.

And yip you only need to worry about HT link speed if you are overclocking.

Should I leave the HT link speed as is (x3), put it on auto or change it to something else?

I'm a little confussed as to why the PC2_6400 (DDR2-400) memory modules are stated at 4-4-4-12 when the timings are actually 5-5-5-18 @ 800Mhz.. The 4-4-4-12Mhz are actually for 533MHz speeds ??

at op - Try setting the DRAm speed to 667 thereby changing the CPU : DRAM ratio to asyncronous. If you leave the other settings as auto the timings etc will be calculated. Remember to change this to 1:1 if you choice to overclock the FSB.

Cheers for the info. Not gonna bother overclocking at all as my mobo is letting the side down. Have tried and tried and gave up in the end! (no vcore adjustment and fixed multiplier) Just gone back into bios and put all settings on auto. AM2 Boost has given me an extra 103 MHz for free which was nice! Been playing Timeshift and FEAR - Perseus Mandate,(test for FEAR was 55fps min, 255fps max!) all max settings and my pc's playing like a dream> :D Gonna leave it a few months b4 I spend again. Just spent small fortune on new stuff in the last 2 weeks (everything in my sig). When I do spend it'll be on a new case and 2 more gig of ram then a clockable mobo I think. V.happy at the mo :D
