BIOS settings to disable onboard graphics

I decided to upgrade a spare system with a D865GLC motherboard, which has onboard Intel Extreme Graphics but also comes with an empty AGP slot. I’ve now tried installing both a GeForce 6600 GT OC AGP and a GeForce 5500 AGP, both according to the online intel motherboard manual fully supported. Neither starts when the computer powers up, even the fans on the cards don’t spin. They both function normally in my other pc. The onboard card, that should be deactivated automatically, continues to work despite uninstalling drivers in Add/Remove, and the AGP slot card is ignored.

I’m not too familiar with BIOS settings, but under Video Configuration’s ‘Primary Video Adapter’ AGP is selected. The only other option being pci. Under Chipset Configuration there is ‘ISA Enable Bit’ enabled. Does this have anything to do with the AGP slot? What other options in the BIOS should I be looking for?

Any ideas? (I'm new :D )

Yep, one of the first things I tried. I still think it's something to do with a bios setting, the motherboard manual says that an external AGP card will automatically disable the onboard. I know I can reset the cmos, but was hoping someone might have another idea. Thanks for the quick response.
