As above. just got a b450 tomahawk max mobo which came with an old bios in relation to current fate the bios was from july, so i flashed it with bios from 2nd sept which addressed some memory compatibilty issues, at the moment everything seems fine, however there is now another bios released 18th sept and am just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on flashing this again.

In general do you flash regardless or do you leave it alone if in a happy place :)

the new bios says - Update AMD ComboPI1.0.0.3abba which may aswell be written in mandarin chinese as i have no idea what that means :)
are there such things as bios release notes so you know whats changed?

cheers

PS. has anyone any idea what would make a pc/monitor go into power saving mode at boot, then if you turn it off then back on it boots fine?

cheers

I've got a Mortar MAX which came with end of July BIOS. Worked first time and I've had no trouble at all. There are two newer BIOS updates, increased memory compatibility and now the new AMD ComboPI1.0.0.3abba update.

The general view is, if your system is working fine, best not to flash unless it's necessary as there is always a risk when flashing.

The new BIOS is an AGESA update, which is from AMD and to do with the Ryzen 3000 architecture. I'm not sure though whether that update brings improvement, or maybe fixes some issues from previous release. I'll leave it to more experienced members to give more insight on that. :p

As my system is working great, I'll wait until more experienced users (whether here or elsewhere) can offer some info on whether the benefit of updating outweighs any risk.

The ABBA update fixed, amongst other things, issues in relation to boost clocks not hitting their max rated boost speeds.

If you haven't noticed this as an issue and are happy with performance then don't bother with flashing. As Marsman said there is a small risk when flashing a BIOS.
