contact ASUS and see what they can offer.

I recently had this problem with a Gigabyte board - I followed the flash procedure to the letter - backed up the old bios to a USB stick, flashed the new bios and it verified okay then rebooted expecting to go into the bios and set everything to defaults but it black screened so that was that I thought.

Turns out Gigabyte have a 3 year warranty and it was just within that timescale. They did the repair (which was pretty simple) and got it back to me within a week - excellent service.

Of course if your board is too old for warranty ASUS may well charge for a repair, in which case you should look on Ebay a 2nd hand Socket A board.

First off I would strongly advise against upating the BIOS from within Windows as these sort of problems can occur all too often. Have you tried a CMOS reset? If so have a look in your Motherboard manual for how to recover the BIOS as most Asus boards use what they call a crash free BIOS. Basically you insert the CD that came with the Motherboard and it should launch the recovery program. If you have no joy then you may want to consider purchasing a new BIOS chip.

You can hot swap bios chips - if you can get hold of another chip for that mobo you can boot off it - swap in your dead chip and reflash it.

I have even managed to flash a dead chip on a complete different motherboard before (with the right image) :) But that was a while back before they had so many checks in place.

Hi,

Being that the board is asus, the bios chip is removable. I've got an external bios flasher, If you would like it flashed for you then drop me a pm.

regards

this is why i am wary of doing this.
i have a dfi lanparty dk p45-t2rs+ and it has the original bios.
but everything seems to be working good, so if it aint broke, then leave it alone
