headlines says it all. I am running an I7 970 on a asus rampage extreme III and I am having difficulties running my ram in tripple channel mode. Someone suggested that I try updating the bios for better memory support, but will that reset my bios setting?

check ASUS' website and see what their latest bios is, or search around and find out which bios version is the best to use. Occasionally, the best bios, isnt always the latest one.

Updating the bios, can usually be done pretty easily through Windows. ASUS's website should explain how to do this.

I don't know the rampage but does F12 save a screen shot to a USB memory stick like it does with P9X79 Pro that I have. I think the screenshot facility was fairly common across Asus?

Sorry, but I have to ask: are you sure it doesn't have slots to save your OC config??..

Because mine has it, and it's a ROG seires, like yours.. And when I updated my Bios, just loaded it and have it back..

Have you see under the Tools Tab??..

If not, then a phone with camera (or a camera itself) will let you have the pictures neede to re-setup your OC.. ;)

Best regards.. :)

Pen and paper or photo to be safe.

When i upgraded my bios it wiped every thing including the saved config.

+1..

Even when I didn't know my motherboard will save my OC profile, I toke some pictures of my Bios with my camera in order to re-setup once the update was done..
Surprise!!!.. The update didn't erase it..
So, despite the mobo "shouldn't" erase it, better be safe than sorry.. ;)

Best regards.. :)

I updated my mobo last night without realising it resetting my oc to default. Was a pain to get it back. >.>
Lesson learnt. Take a pic ><

On mine, the BIOS flash did clear the saved profiles.

I exported them to USB stick, along with the existing BIOS version prior to the upgrade, then re-imported the profiles, and they would not import.

Best bet is to make a note of what's on the screen.

Bios upgrades "COULD" fundamentally change some of the options so I guess that' why they aren't forward compatible.
