Firstly im not saying this is normal, just posting to to gets some thoughts on whats happening here

so once a year my PC just randomly reboots, this time i grabbed debug logs as i left them on from last time

Error was CPU cache Hierarchy - common cause Voltage/BIOS

So updated bios

BIOS list

Bios Versions
Before
3401
After 4505

All bios settings the same,
5900X = ECO mode on
3600MHz RAM CAS 17 DOCP enabled
Resizable bar ON in BIOS off in windows as card doesn't support it.

All at 1440p on 3090.

BF2142 - Before - 150-170FPS average
BF2142 - After 190-220FPS average

i thought i was going mad, so i done some fixed benchmarks & compared to few week old benchmarks

RDR2 Before - 100FPS
RDR2 After - 130FPS

Oydessy - Before 85FPS
Oydessy - After 132FPS

its currently much hotter now so it should be actaully lower...

So my question here is not you should update your BIOS, its Why am i seeing these improvements?
my thoughts

Memory stability maybe?
better voltages for cpu? although both before & after both boosted to 4.8ghz no issue
maybe nvidia driver is helping? but 30

I doubt drivers alone would net you 30+ fps.

I'd say it more than likely points to an instability in memory. Memory instability does lead to random reboots as well. How consistent was your cpu boosting to 4.8ghz and holding there? Could also be a factor if it was fluctuating a lot without you noticing. Also cpu voltage, what voltage was being supplied before and after?

If I remember right there was a Agesa update on AM4 that did give a massive performance boost and as you went from a pretty old version to the latest maybe you have scooped that up. You guys on AMD should be keeping your bios up to date, especially on AM5 as the platform matures because there are always new performance increases, compatibility fixes, memory tweaks etc being released in the latest bios versions. Bricking a board these days is very rare and almost impossible if the board has USB Flashback.

was on Auto & never really looked as didnt need to
it boosted to 4.8ghz with ease & no issue

I generally forget to update BIOS, Back in the day hardly a reason too, nothing much changed. my last board (Threadripper died on BIOS update) 8 as i had no issues i didnt touch it. Maybe ill check once a year now
