I have the ECS PN2 SLI2+ motherboard with a e6600,Bios is ver P23
I want to update the bios to P25 but am not sure how to do this.I have been to the ECS website and downloaded the bios update which consists of 2 files. One a bin file the other is a dos app "NVFLSHSC".There are no instructions on what to do next,i suspect it boots from a floppy. Is there a way to update from windows?
Any help would be forthcoming.

Not sure weather ECS do a win util for updating the BIOS.
But if you've got those 2 file the easiest thing to do would be to...

  • Create boot disk in XP
  • Copy BIOS files onto disk
  • Boot off it
  • Run NVFLSHSC and see what it tells you

at that point you'll either have a little util tell you what to do or it should tell ya the full command line you need to type in

It's MUCH safer to boot the BIOS update off a floppy. Windows is a relatively unstable platform compared to DOS. And in Windows you might be tempted to do something else while the BIOS is being written. In DOS, you can't do that.
