Hi

I am thinking of getting the Gigabyte GA-M720-US3 (Socket AM3/AM2+) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard. But one of the reviews for it says that i would need to upgrade the Bios.

I am thinking of using a Phenom II 550 with it; do i need to update the bios and if so how would i do this and is it hard.

Thanks

It's a relatively safe and straight forward process flashing the BIOS these days - especially as the above board supports dualBIOS.

With Gigabyte it's best to use Q-Flash utility and install the new BIOS via a pen-drive. Here's a link to some info with a PDF link attached with additional instructions - link.

I wouldn't recommend @BIOS as it's never advisable to update the BIOS through a Windows based application – unless it's the only option available to you.

The reason for this is that the Windows environment is far less stable than the simple Q-flash utility and so is far more prone to causing a faulty flash.
