Good Morning,

I feel pretty bad that I haven't played the Bioshock series yet but we all know how Steam libraries get neglected, at least mine does! Obviously the imminent release of Bioshock: Infinite has prompted my interest but was wondering how the stories relate and whether it's vital I play them.

Looking at Steam you can get both the older titles for £30.00 but I do wish I'd picked them up in one of the sales!

Thoughts?!

If you're going to pick them all up (and the first at least is a decent enough game) then I recommend buying Infinite from GMG as you can get BS1 and 2 for free as part of that bundle for less than £30 total.

I actuallly have a spare copy of the first at the mo I got free with my Songbird pre order. I'm willing to do a small trade if your up for that?

Bioshock 1 is a more well rounded game then 2 but I enjoyed both a lot. Neither are related to infinite although the theme of the game and the technologies inside the games are the same I believe. Same world, different story lines. If you use the mouse for 2, switch the buttons over - you'll understand why within 5 minutes.

Excellent, Thanks for the tips! :)

bioshock one is one of best single player games i played ! loved it two = no

they are only a few quid each when on offer and i personally wouldnt pay more than a tenner for both combined especially as the first one is normally 3 quid in sales regular and second one was 5 quid a lot .

with the new one out soon steam will have these on offer quite a lot soon

I ended up purchasing the offer from GMG, £23.00 for all three games seemed pretty reasonable! Thanks for all the advice chaps. ;)

I would highly recommend the first - never got round to the second as I did not fancy it given that it was a different Dev team and the reviews mainly had it as more action-oriented than the first.

Also, don't read any FAQs or Guides - just go into the game dark and try and appreciate it for what it is. There are far too many Spoiler-prone sites and videos out there, and even forum discussions can be destructive to your final experience.

I bought the gmg bundle and intend to play them in sequence. I wont have time to finish the first two before Infinite is out but I'm not fussed about playing on release day tbh.

Loaded Bioshock briefly the other day and wow it still looks stunning, not far off more recent games to be honest, Rapture has to be one of the most beautifully realized environments ever.

at least they redid the hacking for the second one :D first was a pain in the tushhhhh

IIRC tho it was a right pain initially once you'd upgraded your abilities at it a couple of times it became really really easy. I only vaguely remember it tho.

Yeah lol, the first one was the whole pipe increase the water flow thing, which was weird because why would water flow through mechanical turrets, when you try to hack them and you get 3 seconds before it starts, its solid, takes 3 seconds to click all the tiles!!, the whole click the green part of the bar in no.2 was so much easier :)
