I am sick to death of every game having some sort of multi-player. What happened to the days of pure single player games? As of right now, there are plenty of good multi-player games to keep everyone busy for years. I'd like some pure single player games. Bioshock was good because they put all their time into making the single player experience good.

Kotaku reports that Game Informer's BioShock 2 preview has revealed the game will feature multiplayer, but doesn't offer any details as to what kind of multiplayer experience it will be.

This could mean we'll be running around arenas shooting down other players with plasmids or maybe taking part in a match of 'Daddies vs Sisters' which would see the lumbering but powerful Big Daddies going up against the speedy Big Sisters. How about a mode in which players race around a level harvesting as many Little Sisters as possible in set time - available in Harvester and Team Harvester varieties.

BioShock 2 is scheduled for release before November 2009, but no platforms have been announced.

I think co-op counts as multiplayer doesn't it? As obviously its more than one player - but yeah I totally agree, they cant leave stuff alone :(

If the overall single-player experience is good, who cares about the multiplayer component? If you don’t want to play multiplayer the solution is simple… just ignore that part of the game!

I can think of several great games, with and without multiplayer, that have been released over the last few years. So what does it matter? Just felt like a rant I guess?! :p

So long as Bioshock 2 remains an excellent single player experience, I don’t see the problem with adding multiplayer. If it turns out to be rubbish (the multiplayer) then there is no real loss, the game would have cost the same without it.

Co-op could be pulled off. Maybe.... if the story allows it and doesn't force it (and then ruins single player ala RE5).

Provided there are no multiplayer achievements, I don't.

I just get annoyed by the fact that some great single player games with a dodgy multiplayer mode have 300 - 400 unrealistic to gain points bundled in for the hell of it. :(

They should stick co-op in there and have some really hard difficulty settings.

It's not like a co-op mode needs any changes to the single player game apart form more difficulty, and it's always fun playing with friends.

The thing about co-op is, that they have to make it so its playable on your own without having a bunch of co-op type moments. Either, go all the way with it and make the co-op mode so mind blowing you'll always want to play with others(like left 4 dead) or just don't do it at all.

Couldn't agree more.

Couldn't agree more.

Same, when playing through Dead Space I thought that I would have loved to have played that game in co-op. I do think though it would have ruined the whole atmosphere of the game.

Bioshock I think co-op would ruin as well.

It's gonna need a HELL of a lot more in it than that for me to have any interest.

Even the single player was one of the most monotonous and unoriginal games I've played in years.

I agree... it is becoming a little much.

It may be not social, but sometimes I like to play a game with just me, myself and I.

YOU PLAY AS A BIG DADDY (the first Big daddy at that) :D

Which I'm confused about, it's set 10 years after the first, so how can you be the 1st ever big Daddy

Unoriginal? What sort of games are you playing that are so original these days? then

Bioshock is in a league of its own, like it or not.

NEVER said about any games I'm currently playing that ARE original, so that argument must be rejected.

It's totally unoriginal as in it's nothing more than a FPS with a bit of stealth thrown in. The quests were nothing more than "go from here to there, get this and bring it back". Most of the game for me was just going where the arrow told me and take it from there, then retrace my footsteps and get a little reward and [repeat].

That camera thing where you had to take photos was utterly boring as hell. So not only did I have to spend a few hours getting to point "B", but now I've gotta go back through everything and photograph everything I took from "A" to "B" in the most prettiest of ways just to get some additional points.

Enemies were boring (apart from Bid Daddy), and while I admit that the graphics were 'nice' and very 'fitting' to the atmosphere, were quite simply boring after a while.

I prefered the feeling of isolation that Bioshock 1 gave you, added atmosphere etc

Co-op no no

And MP will hardly be popular, so I'm not that fussed as long as it doesn't harm the SP experience
