Hi

Has anyone played Bioshock with the above card(s) and what frame rates are you getting (particularly in heavy battle scenes - in water, etc)?

Also, what resolution and detail are you playing at? Any tips on tweaking with these cards?

Hi

I have spec in sig and get 30-55fps, although with intense scenes it dips to 25fps, with all settings on high @1440x900 res. With o/c @GTX speed its gets slightly better tho not much!
I wont play this now until i get a faster card :(

Hope this helps

Spec in sig. I have no idea what my actual fps are, but it runs very nicely at 1280x1024 with everything maxed - apart from textures at medium.....way too choppy on high with a 256MB card.

colours also look dull. Very jerky with all on high. Thats why i bought 8800gts 640. Wouldn't played till new card gets delivered

get about 25 fps in battle scenes on high detail 1024 x 768 but I would prefer 30 as a minimum. I'll try it with medium settings and 'medium-high' and see, I am not too fussed about all the bells and whistles and things like character shadows are not important

Is the 7900 on par with a x1900 coz I get no slowdowns at all on my card @ 1024x768 all maxed out?

I found I had to drop to 1024x768 and medium to get a decent frame rate (IE. 40+ FPS). Hence why I upgraded to an 8800 GTS. Now runs VERY well at 1280x1024 at high.

I have now 'tweaked' my settings and get a smooth frame rate throughout my test (30 fps minimum). The graphics look good and are as follows:

1024 x 768
Actor detail: HIGH
Texture detail: HIGH (don't lower this ;)

Windowed mode: off
Vertical Sync: off
Shadow maps: off
High detail post processing (Bloom/HDR effects): ON
High detail shaders: off
Real time reflection: ON
Distortion: off
Force global lighting: ON

Try it a couple of times with this;)

X1950 pro is better in bioshock than a 7900GS (about 20%).

so in this game a 7900GS is equal to a X1900GT I guess.

On my 7950GX2 I never really drop below 50fps with 1440x900 all settings maxed - so with a GS its gonna be slightly less than half that with the same settings...

The Unreal engine has always had a setting (in the bioshock.ini file) to specify the desired minimum fps - which results in dynamic quality adaption to try and maintain that fps - it doesn't work perfectly but it does help a little...

7950GX2 is like two cards in one and one of the best dx9 cards

however, 30fps minimum is OK for game play

for 7900 GS/ GT i suggest having a couple of goes at the settings I mentioned above which still look good to me:)

X2 at 2.5ghz, 2gb ddr400, 512mb 7950GT

25-30 FPs max settings at 1280.

Its just a bit too juddery and drops below 20 in some areas which is very annoying.

i think you need to adjust your settings, check your drivers, etc because your card is quite powerful!

I have tried the exact above but with 1280 x 1024 and get 25 fps min occasionally but smooth overall.
