If it's getting choppy with lots of enemies on screen it could be a CPU bottleneck. If you drop the resolution do you have the same problem?

I havnt tried dropping the res, I may try it because it does get really choppy, I wouldn't mind even playing it on medium this pc I've got don't seem worth the money don't even play css properly

must be a CPU bottleneck, Im running at the same res with a X1950XT and an E6600 (stock) and im having no slowdown at max DX9. Have you tried the latest drivers?

I went for the 360 version after all that disk protection rubbish with the PC and Im glad I did but anyway, as for pad v mouse+keyboard, bioshock works absolutely fine with the gamepad. The game is at a slow enough pace that the advantages of mouse+keyboard are not important. Its not like quake or unreal where I would never even consider using a pad.

Only disadvantage imo is the price. Not seen it for less than 34.99 for 360 yet.

Your also posting in the PC section, if you posted this in the console section you would have got a totally different responce from people

There's a bug on some systems where it resets vsync to 'On' every time you laod the game. Sounds like it could be the source of your problem.
Worth checking out :)
