Bioshock Infinite / Steam / XBox Pad Problem

I'm having a little problem with my wired XBox controller and Bioshock Infinite and I'm at a loss as to what the problem is.

I was playing BI a couple of days ago and it was fine, however when I got into my game last night I discovered the left stick no longer works (in game) so I can't move anywhere - all of the other buttons respond and the left stick can be used to navigate the menus.

I restarted my PC a couple of times and tried other games, all worked perfectly with the controller.

Any idea what could cause this?

Controller bindings lost maybe? Bit of a weird one.

I've had that thought myself but I came to conclusion that surely there'd also be no response from the left stick in the menus.

I don't think it's a driver issue as it works in other games and I've not connected anything else in between that could cause a driver conflict.

My other thought is a corrupted save game. I'm not too far into BI, having just got the Shock Jockey vigor.
