Am I being a dumb ass, or does this game have a really weird mouse movement algorithm to it? even on lowest setting it feels really unfluid..

Try disabling Vsync in the game, and use D3Doverider to force triple-buffered vsync instead.

I find that removes the mouse lag from lots of games.

Aye Vsync sucks if you don't have enough gpu power, it's most noticable in dead space or in games like gta with a stupid low frame limiter, feels really **** until it's disabled. In games where you get tearing, force triple buffered vsync with your drivers.

it's not an FPS issue, it's smooth in that respect, gtx 260

just feels like they spent about 20 seconds adding mouse support :p

Dead Space mouse lag can be fixed with D3Doverrider as well. It isn't lack of GPU power that causes it, it is the really shoddy Vsync hardcoded into the game that actually halves the framerate no matter what.

Use D3Doverrider with Triple Buffering enabled and your mouse input will be smooth as silk, you will still probably need to crank the sensitivity up though in game as it is set very low.

ur not alone i set mouse sensitivity at 1 and in game is still fast but when u do puzzles "hacking" it really slow and jerky hard do describe it

Apparently there is quite an issue with Bioshock and mouse acceleration.

A quick google along those lines should give you some commands/config alterations to get rid of the mouse acceleration.

Hope this helps.

i had the same problem too....there is a way to fix it but unfortunately i cant remember the commands that need changing.

When i got BioShock when it came out i noticed it too, the aiming wasnt quite "normal" as you expect, but i just got on with it (felt like there was some wierd acceleration and uneven sensitivity on the axis). Not sure if the 1st patch helped that somewhat.

In regards to VSync affecting mouse aim in games, i know of 1 game, Halo 2 Vista, that has this problem, and it was never fixed. Basically if the game is running really well (100 FPS or so) mouse aim nosedives into buttocks land and its near impossible to aim with it, using a 360 pad remains normal however. The only option to fix this was to enable VSync in the graphics cards control panel, and even then there were moments of iffyness. I wish developers would sort this crap out, they ruin otherwise good games imo (Dead Space for me, i could aim better with VSync on, i turn it off and when you start moving, trying to look around requires me to throw the mouse around the entire room :)).

I turely believe this game was designed for the pad in mind. Mouse movement just feels so unatural. Played through the 2nd time with a pad and worked great. Just wonder if designing a game with one control method in mind effects the other.

yep, I found that it was the mouse acceleration too and I need to run a reg editing batch file each time i want to play to remove all acceleration that's creeped back into the registry... if you need it, give me a shout and i'll happily forward it on :) (i got it off th enet, but can't remember where)

Mouse acceleration/feel in unreal engine games has always been an issue, BioShock is still pretty bad even after the tweaks...
