Anyone have any ideas?

I am running an 8800 GTS, E4300 @ 3GHZ, and 2GB of ram, ASUS P5N-E SLI, 8800 GTS 320MB, and I was trying with windows VIsta.

I tried the latest drivers, including the ones for the inbuild sound on the motherboard (the realtek ones). As soon as the intro finishes = no sound :( I tried the compatibility mode for windows XP SP2, and still no luck :(

I had this problem with the demo. I got the sound to work (and subsequently bought the game) but i'm not entirely sure how i'm afraid.

I did 3 things: put the shortcut of the game in xpsp2 mode (the actual .exe file not the file that steam makes for a shortcut - if youre using steam), updated my sound drivers (also realtek R1.75), and i think i experimented with the sound options, turning eax off/on etc.

Like i say i have no idea how i got it to work but it's worth it. Also i have a similar system to you (Q6600, 8800GTS 320, 2GB RAM, Vista64) and it works really well

I had EXACTLY the same problem

Unfortunately though I managed to fixed my problem by just downloading the latest Vista drivers for my mobo

i had a problem like this with bioshock and other games in vista.....so i bought a sound card lol, i guess onboard was to blame

If you are getting sound on the intro but not on the loading screen or in game, go into the sound settings turn EAX off and flip the sound mode to Stereo and then go into the properties of bioshock.exe and change the compatability to XP SP2.

Sorted mine out just great.
